This week we welcomed Alleynians to our Yurt for our re-arranged league fixture. After last week’s win spirts where high and raring to go, with Charlie “Machete” Sene,Tom Barnes,Doug Edwards and Jamie Walker returning to the side. Yes three walkers’ brothers, contrary to “Sun Ain’t Gonna Shine”, the conditions where fine! Unfortunately, our early spirts were deflated when Alleynians arrived with 13 and no front row. After a meeting of the” Brains Trust” it was agreed to lend 2 of our players for each half and start with uncontested scrums, not ideal but in the spirt of the game everybody got a run out. A big thank you to the 13 Alleynians that made the effort and our players who helped them out, Steve Lewis, Harrison,Shea,Jimmy Bignal and Ollie Walker.
The game started well with the Nomads constructing some excellent attacks and Surge crashing over within 3 minutes. Alleynians struck back and after 19 minutes of attack breached the Nomads line at 13 minutes. 5-5. After a bit of ping pong Eden James collect the ball around our 10 metre line and gassed the defense for our second try, converted by Jimmy Bignal 12-5 after 20 minutes. Just before the break the Nomads used their pack for storming 30 metre maul, realizing Ollie Walker to sore from 2 metres! 17-5 at half time.
Second half they scored 12 points 17-17 draw enough said!
The first half Nomads were the hunter/gathers, where as the second half saw more of shepherds/goatherders side of our character.
"Winning is not a sometime thing; it's an all the time thing. You don't win once in a while; you don't do things right once in a while; you do them right all of the time. Winning is a habit."
