Combe edge tight contest

After a great weeks training the boys hit the ground running and against a big physical Barnes side the defence in the first 15 minutes was awesome.
With some slick hands saw Luke Maybank break on the right wing, he still had loads to do but in typical Maybank style backed himself and went over in the corner or so we thought! Ref disallowed the try from 55 yards away still 0-0.
James Catlin captain for the day was putting a proper shift in and won us a penalty in the 18th minute, johnny O'Hehir 0-3.
Barnes strong runners in the centres had Chris Lewis and Ryan and Dan Fox in the backrow getting through a heap of work.
Barnes infringed again on 28 minutes Johhny o'Hehir steps up 0-6.

Second half starts very much like the first half ended with some strong running from Barnes and great defence from 'Combe. On 45 Barnes catch and drive and go over plus a conversion 10-9.

With a couple changes at half time saw Damien Reilly back in the fold after a long lay off, put in some great carries and tackles. Ryan Hackett the first time playing at this lvl as a forward was also getting through a ton of work,
We get another penalty on 50 Johnny scores again 10-12.
Barnes pull one back on 55 13-12.
The boys kept their metal and worked hard all over the park awarded another penalty on 60, 13-15 Johnny scores.
With 20 to go it looked like more points to come as the boys were pushing all the way.
The ref gives Barnes 3 penalties on the bounce rolling up the field, it would be a travesty if they slotted this one over, luckily for us he missed, Ryan Hackett gathers puts it into touch after lots of shall we say encouraging words from the rest of the team!
First win 13-15.

Great start by all the boys, defence was top draw and with new faces coming in makes it all the more exciting going forward. James Catlin today was great all over the field along with Chris Lewis and Dan Fox, But for me man of the match is Ryan Hackett, awesome performance no shirt number higher than 8 for you now!
