The X-Men Excel at the Exiles

The 2nds were away to Scottish on what looked on paper an academy side were we taking, the average age of 22 but that didn't stop these youngsters playing yet again beyond their years.

We set ourselves some big targets before the game and led by Taff Lewis the lads came out the blocks and went for it straight off
The one up tackles against a bigger older pack were top draw and we scrummage them off the park. Scottish were living off our mistakes and only got into our half on the back of them.
It took us 24 minutes before Brad Kayton went over for his first well worked try 0-5.
With some very slick handling we kept Scottish at bay, the more we pressed the more pressure they came under and gave away a penalty on the 32nd minute for Simmo to slot over 0-8
Ben Hennah hit there outside centre who spilled the ball, Ben kicked through with the rest of Combe chasing, he gathers and had a choice of players to offload too. At Taff's disgust who had ran 50 meters he passes to Nimmo who goes over on the 37th minute 0-13

We get straight into and Brad Kayton with his gas goes over on the 42 minute simmo converts. 0-20

By now we are winning all our lineout ball and most of theirs our defence is immense and Dan Giling is causing all sorts of problems
Harvey Young and Josh Penny for two 17yr olds are controlling everything at 10 and 12. With some great work from these two Birchy goes over on the 56th minute 0-25.

Yet again Kayton with his gas goes over on the 65th minute Simmo converts 0-32.
Not long after Kayton comes off with a knee injury lets hope its not the same problem as before as he has been outstanding since his return.

With a little chip over from Livett, Birchy scores a great try in the corner 0-37.
Nimmo gets yellowed carded along with one of these for fighting, bit harsh I thought
On the 72nd minute Scottish finally get on the scoreboard and go over in the corner folwing our mistake 5-37, this galvnises the hosts and they quickly work an 8 pick up and put their winger over and convert 12-37

Comments from the ref, for a young side to handle and pass the ball the way 'Combe did was fantastic also a pleasure to ref.
All the goals we set out we completed, the boys played with commitment, passion and the attitude not only for one another but the shirt as well.
With the home grown talent coming through things are looking good for the club
Brad Kayton, Harvey Young, Josh Penny pushed hard for man of the match and it was a hard choice but Dan Gillling gets the nod,
