'Combe edge top of the table clash to remain league leaders

Richmond turned up with a front 5 most clubs in a higher league would have loved to have, subsequently their scrum was dominant all game and the Combe pack went backwards at a rate of knots at every scrum. In spite of such adversity, the defence from our boys was immense all game, one up tackles, guards around the ruck and carries in open play put conitunally put pressure on Richmond.
With a few passes going to hand and less knock-ons we could have scored in the first quarter, unfortunately Richmond drew first blood on 25 minutes and a rare lapse in cocentration allowed the visitor to doube their lead to 0-10 immediately from the restart.
Combe now huge a huge job on their hands but inpred work including lots of pressure and big carries from James Catlin and Dave Watkins produced a penalty which Phil Loyden slots it over 3-10 on 35 mins.
Score line stays the same till half time

From the restart we had Richmond under pressure and with a sublime kick from Joe Simpson we have them pinned in their own 1/2. In broken play Mark Nimmo charges a box kick down and scores in the corner 8-10
Will still have 38 minutes to play and the boys have to dig deep.
Richmond are not going to take this lying down and come on the attack, Phil Loyden sits down there inside centre with a massive hit (Rupert Chitty described as one of the biggest hits he has ever seen!!)which forces the play into Richmond's half
Simmo kicks well again and pins Richmond in the corner, another penalty and Loyden slots it over 11-10 on 50 minutes.
We lose Lewis Williams with an ankle injury and Billy Bignell steps up. Soon after Alex lord goes with an arm injury along with Michael Halstead so we have to go uncontested for the final 20 mins . Phl Loyden and Joe Birch fill the vacant spots in the pack with Josh Penny at inside centre and Harvey Young at full back, we still have a long way to go.
The defence in all areas is different gravy, Catlin is running round like a new born hitting everything in a Richmond shirt. Nimmo is stealing ball and with Simmo's kicking we are keep Richmond at bay.
Loyden has a penalty late on but it was just to far out Richmond attack we turn it over kick to the corner and keep Richmond pressed in the corner.
Final whistle!!!!!!
11-10 final score
Man of the match could have been Simmo for his kicking and control,Dave Watkins for his carrying and leadership or Nimmo for anything you like, but for me after being out for a few weeks and playing 80 minutes on the front foot James Catlin was top draw.

Absolutely awesome, chuffed to bits with everyone who played and proud from a personal point of view to know how deep you all dug for the win.
