For the information of all club member

There is an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) in the club house, which is attached to the wall near the TV. It is an integral part of the CPR protocols, as recommended by the British Resus Council. All members should be made aware of its location in case of emergency.

The AED is for use by Trained people when someone is suspected of suffering from a coronary event, i.e., a Heart Attack. Training on the use of this equipment is incorporated into the Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course.

Several club members have attended the EFAW courses which I have run at Westcombe Park RFC. Those attendees are mainly from and attached to the Junior/Mini section of the club.

I provide this training at Combe. Courses generally run over two evenings for 3 hours per session, and it is a Certificated/Nationally Accredited course. The content is designed and akin to enhance ‘Pitch Side’ first aid skills.

The courses are for up to 12 attendees and costs are heavily discounted for club members. The qualification lasts for 3 years.

All teams and playing groups should have at least two qualified people with them whilst engaged in sports events at the club. This is an emergency injury or illness safeguard for both players and spectators alike.

For any further information or advice please contact me, Chris Snape or Jane Collins.

All the best in the spirit of rugby.
