MATCH REPORT
NOMADS 27-ORPINGTON 12
CROCODILE 36-ALLEYNIANS 12
As both games seemed to be very similar, filled with good spirt and quality Combe players, I will attempt one report.
The games started up hill into the wind and rain, with the art of defence and forward carries into the elements. A fine effort by both Nomads and Croc’s. For the conditions both sides played great rugby and kept the ball for sustained periods of time. Ian Dury @Ian Dury opened the scoring for the Nomads as did Jamie Taylor did for the Croc’s. Will Dowden @Will Dowden , and Kelan Mcpolin @Kelan Mcpolin sored great try’s on the wings from some distance out, for the conditions amazing. Ollie Walker @Ollie Walker Walke wriggled over too from 2”. Which was half time. Second half, downhill wind behind both teams, saw some great game management, seeing Ross McEwen @Ross Mcewen in full flight down the wing, Chris Weaver @Chris Weaver shredding the defence for super try. Ollie Walker @Ollie Walker Walke had another sneaky 4” to go for his second try.
Meanwhile the Nomads were cutting up the turf with great kick passes from Jimmy Bignell @Jimmy Bignell , saw James Lee @James Lee leap like a Salmon to score, converted by Jimmy Bignell @Jimmy Bignell from the touch line, brilliant. 14-14. Penalty 17-14. And repeat twice, saw James Lee @James Lee cross for two more try’s, poetry in motion. What a great performance from both sides. Couple of footnotes, Will Hall @Will Hall managed to score on the wrong line, and Barry “Clever” Cleaver @Barry Cleaver got so far into the ref’s ear he got a yellow card on his debut. A super day that saw five new players who were great additions to the squad, Matt Thomas @Matt Thomas , Tommy Bennett @Tommy Bennett , Gareth Hall @Gareth Hall , Barry Cleaver @Barry Cleaver , Harry Orsenton,@Harry Osenton which should all be back next week. Player of The Day goes to all the supporters that stayed in the rain. Thank you to all.
