75 miles in 29 degrees for Charity

The Fantastic 5 from Combe: Steve Bunn, Alex Pace, Jack Woodhouse, Niki Davies and Alan Edwards completed the 75 mile route today raising money for the Wooden Spoon Charity.

In ideal cycling weather we set off from Combe at 08:30 this morning. The route took in Sevenoaks RFC, Edenbridge RFC, Tonbridge Juddians, Aylesford Bulls, Vigo RFC and finally back at Combe.

The route was 'undulating' with as many fast down hill descents as there were slow painful climbs, but we stuck at it and completed the task at hand.

The stats for those cycling aficionados as follows:-
Total Distance: 74.67 miles
Total Ride Time: 6hrs 4mins
Average Speed: 12.6 mph
Maximum Speed: 39.6mph
Calorie Burn: 4077kcal

If I knew how to work my Garmin properly I could also comment on total climbing data etc but even after 2 years I'm still baffled by it's functionality.

A special thanks to Denes Nemestothy and Paul Woodhouse for manning the feed station at Combe, I haven't seen that many bananas for a long time.

Finally a big thanks to the Wooden Spoon team for organising such a fantastic event and the helpers posted at all the Rugby Clubs who provided much needed sustenance and fluid. To give you an idea of the heat and effort I personally drank no less than 6 litres of fluid without the need for a single comfort break!!

Alex Pace the Cycling Ferrit is already looking forward to organising next years event with the help of Ross 'Sick Note' McEwen .....although he doesn't know it yet.

Enjoy the Summer.
