Okay, Okay, Okay. So the captains an idiot. HAHA!

So I went to the wrong club. It's an honest mistake to make. In my defence, I did make good time. I was at Old Eltamians bang on 2.30. For the fully embelishished story, featuring lies and nonsense, see Taz.

I will be sure not to make the same mistake next week. Folkstone Away! Going Direct! See you there!

Due to this honest mistake, I missed the first 20 mins of our game. But, according to those less geographically challengeded than I, I didn't miss much. Over all, the game was a pretty turgid affair with neither side ever developing any real momentum. I must give credit to Beccs though. They controlled the pace of the game very well and never allowed us to get going... with two exceptions.

While we in know way deserved to win Saturday's game, we did score two exceptional tries. The first came about from an exceptional break from our fly-half, Alex Leng. Leng made a break, completely opened up the the opposition defense and after good support and well recycled ball, Mark Hopkins went over, underneath the post. As per usual, Loz did his thing of missing the kick from straight in front.

Early in the second half, we scored another exceptional try from the base of a scrum. From no. 8, I scooped the ball to Chris Spence, who got the pass away to Leng at 10. Leng, popped the ball off the ground to me and I managed to off-load it to Hopkins before getting smashed. Hopkins popped to Ali Burnett who made good ground and selflessly passed it out to Loz Morgan. Loz cantered over the line and will probably never score an easier try again.

Therein lies the great frustration. At times we played sublime stuff, cutting Beccs to pieces. I need to give particular credit to Ali in the centre. He ran and ran at their centres and broke through countless times. We just lacked the finishing pass to get us over the line.

To be fair to Beccs, they were clever, disruptive and much more comfortable playing with each other. They ran great lines off each other and supported each other fantasticly well. Without the commitment to defense we displayed, particularly from Mark Hopkins, Garreth Whiffin and Graham Parrish, we could have been on the end of a cricket score.

I am looking forward to the return fixture and hopefully we will be a little more comfortable playing with each other at that stage and provide much better opposition. It is at home too so hopefully I should make the first half. I know where our club is located.

Well done lads and let's keep it going for next week.

Enda.

P.S. Apologies to those who couldn't get a game this week. Rather frustratingly, due to tournament rules, we are only allowed to pick a squad of 18 players.
