Nomads hit top gear

The sun was shining on the pitch,
Shining with all its might:
He did his very best to make
The game smooth and bright—
And this was odd, because it was
The middle of the February

The Nomads was eager as eager could be,
The lads were hard as hard.
You could not see a HSBC player because
No ball to play with:
Tackles were flying in all over—
There were no mistakes today.

Jack Woodhouse, crashes over for a try,
We’re charging close at hand:
HSBC wept like anything you’d seen
Such quantities of attack:
Which were cleared away,
They said, “it would be okay!”

If Mattt Gosling jumps for 40 minutes,
Line out for half a match,
Do you suppose, Darren Ferret said?
“Could that work in a game?”
“I doubt it," said Harrison Shea,
And then Matt scored again...

“Nomads, come and win with us!”
Jimmy Bignell did beseech.
“A pleasant talk, at half time,
A long 30 minutes backs to the beach:
We cannot do with less than our best
To give us a chance of a win

The eldest Nomad looked at him,
But never a word he said;
The eldest Big Dave Lewis winked his eye,
And shook his heavy head—
Meaning to say he choose not,
To leave the field a loser.

At 70 minutes Owen Humphreys struck,
All eager for the fight,
Try to bring up close to the win.
HSBC where looking worried and a little worried,
Their shoes were clean and neat—
And this was odd, because, you know,
They hadn’t considered defeat.

Four more minutes and Owen does them again, Oysters followed them,
And yet another 7 for the lead;
And thick and fast they came at last,
And more and more and more—
All hopping through the HSBC defence,
And scrambling to the barricades,

Jack Woodhouse strikes again,
Battled on a mile or so,
And then scored under the posts,
Conveniently timed:
And all the Nomads stood
And cheered the win.

“The time has come," the Snapey said,
“To talk of many things:
Of great—and skills—and teamwork
Of Nomads—and kings—
And why the Rugby is boiling hot—
And whether pigs have wings.”

“But wait a bit," the Nomads cried,
“Before we have our chat;
For some of us are out of breath,
And all of us are fat!”
“No hurry!” said the Coach.
The bar awaits the Victors.
