Walk for Jack - Please read and show your support

Mark Ley23 Sep 2011 - 07:42

Jack Brennan or "Jacko" as he is affectionately known played for 'Combe in the Youth section and Academy before moving over to Rugby League.

The following article has been taken from Harlequins RL.

"Earlier this month a young, promising Harlequins Rugby League Academy player, Jack Brennan, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer.

Having suffered with numbness in his neck and shoulders for months, which he put down to an injury, 18 year old Jack and his family now have to face up to a fight against a Cancer which has spread throughout his body and is inoperable in its present form.

Jack started a course of chemotherapy at the Royal Marsden Hospital on Thursday September 15 and the doctors are hoping Chemotherapy will reduce the tumours enough to operate at a later date.

The rugby league community has come together to try to raise some money for Jack and his family. There will be a sponsored walk on October 1 2011 starting at 9am from the Twickenham Stoop, home of London's only Super League Club, to his amateur club Greenwich Admirals on the other side of London. We are aiming to raise as much money as we can to make life for him and his family better in any way possible.

The route is 19.5 miles, 31.3km or roughly 44950 steps. An average person would walk that in six hours and 35 minutes. Starting at 9am at the Twickenham Stoop we will pass right through the capital, walking via Richmond, Putney, Chelsea, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abby, the Houses of Parliament, The London Eye, Elephant & Castle and then on to New Cross and Kidbrook, finally finishing at Greenwich Admirals home at Well Hall.

Please feel free to donate and/or come down and join in the walk.
