We have a new President for the 2019-2020 season, Fraser Thomson. For those who don't know Fraser, here is an introduction....

Having joined Westcombe Park in 80/81, I have been involved at many levels and have had the privilege of representing Combe as both captain (First XV Captain, 5 seasons 1988-1993) and First XV coach (16 seasons 1993-2009).

I am now honoured to have been appointed President of the club for the next two seasons.

Looking back over this last season
We feel we did not live up to the expectations we set ourselves last season and our concentration and discipline will be the key for this season. I know our DOR, Rob Lawrence has taken these concerns as his priorities and that should make quite a difference going forward this season.

Looking forward
A great deal of hard work has gone into player recruitment/retention. We have several outstanding signings on board which we hope, will give us an edge during a very tough season ahead.

I’m delighted to report that Charlie O’Sullivan will Skipper the side again and will bring a cool, considered view to matters on and off the field.

Last season ‘Chris and the Snapetts’ did a fabulous job reviving the belly of the club and regularly fielded a third side and I know the target to field a 4th’s is well underway- brilliant job gentlemen!

Phil Cahill will again steer the youth section and we are all committed to provide a pathway for the Combe Youth to progress through to the Senior Squad.

Fundraising can be a thankless task, but we must do what we can to support the various ‘socials’ that will be organised throughout the season with profits being divided between charities and club. My chosen charity is the Wooden Spoon again and we would hope to support this very worthwhile and relevant cause.

Thank you in advance to all club members and friends for all their ongoing support. There are so many unsung volunteers who do so much to enhance our club. Many thanks to them all and if you are keen to help and join in, we’d love to hear from you.

We need to maintain our standards - Rugby evokes a cauldron of emotions but please respect the officials and be positive in our encouragement of our teams.
