Details of celebration of life service

Hugh Jones.

Sadly we have to report of the passing of Hugh Jones, following a long but brave battle with cancer.

Hugh, a gentle unassuming man both on and off the rugby pitch was born on 29 December 1957 to an English mother and a Welsh father. Although Leicester became his home for many years, you never had to ask who he backed on a Six Nations weekend, through good times and bad.

He joined Westcombe Park rugby club after relocating to Orpington in Kent in the mid 80’s and played in many games. He and his wife Denny quickly made many friends and became an integral part of the social scene.
Hugh later joined West Kent golf club, further extending his circle of friends.

He was always well turned out, often in his trademark Barbour jacket, looking very dapper with a smile on his face and a pint in his hand!

‘Jonesy’ was always understated and dependable. He would often be seen joining in the fun on many end of season tours and all that it entailed, (best not to ask)!

He will be sadly missed by Denny, his family and all of his many friends in the banking world, golf and rugby clubs.

A celebration of his life will be held at Grantham crematorium on Friday 27th March at 1.30pm, and afterwards at the Cholmeley Arms pub in Burton Coggles village. No funeral attire or Combe blazers please. Wear something joyous, that you've been saving for best or that makes you smile.
