
Eric was a true rugby man. He played for the first fifteen from 1955 through to 1960. He was awarded an honours cap in season 1955-56. Eric’s position was scrum half and he tended to be quite regularly injured so much so that a notice was published that Orpington Hospital should give him a season ticket. Eric was married to Melba they had three sons Mark, Paul known as “Rocky“ and Simon, the latter two also played for Coombe. He played in a winning Kentish times sevens team in 1958.
When he retired from playing, he took up refereeing at senior level for the London Society. He was president of Coombe in 1993 he then followed this by being elected President of Kent from 1994 until 1997. He worked for Danish Bacon and then as MD for Lurpack Danish Butter.
