New coaching changes announced.

I am delighted to inform you that Danny Vaughan has accepted the role as Head Coach for Westcombe Park RFC.

Danny has worked with us in the past and more recently with our lads at Kent county level. Danny offers us a high standard of coaching, and a wealth of experience and knowledge, and we welcome him to ’Combe. We are looking forward to his first session on Tuesday 4th July, when senior club pre-season training starts, and wish him the best of success working with our players to achieve the highest standards next season. At this time I would like to reiterate our thanks to Steve Wagstaff who, as I informed you last month, is leaving ‘Combe and we wish him the best success in his future.

Joe Bonner will captain the 1st XV next season providing continuity and experience combined with excellent leadership qualities.

Our 2nd XV is vital to the senior squad and we have recently had to make some changes to our coaching and management structure. As many of you know Billy Maynard has been responsible for the coaching of the 2nds, but due to work commitments he is unable to continue next season. Billy has worked hard for the players and the club and we all thank him very much for his efforts on the coaching front.

Billy will be replaced by Simon Campbell who returns to senior coaching at ‘Combe whilst also continuing to guide our U15s next season. Jamie Taylor will captain the 2nds and be assisted by Billy Bignell, in a management and playing role, as we increase communication and continuity throughout our senior squad.

So onwards and upwards for our senior squad at ‘Combe. If you don’t know any of these guys, please take time to introduce yourself and support them as we all work to make ‘Combe a stronger and more competitive club.

Thank you

Paul Woodhouse.
WPRFC Chairman
