Sun 26 Mar 11:00 - Cup Full time

WPRFC Falcons 24-12 Ashford RFC

under 14s Kent plate winners !!!!!!!

The first day of British summer time and the sun really shone on the Falcons today. The Falcons couldn't have asked for finer weather for a final to be played in, blue sky and the sun was out. All the boys and parents were at Ashfords ground in good time even after allowing for the change in clocks and an hours less time in the fart sack.
Finals day for the under 14s,Ashford our foe. Haven't played them for years so we knew little about them, all we did know was that they were meant to be a big side, but who cares the boys have dealt with big sides before and this would end up being no different.
Kick off at 11.00 no more could be done, churchillian speeches given it was now up to the boys to play the game of their season.
From the off the falcons put their foot on the gas and kept it there till the final whistle. The boys plan was to not let Ashford get started and not let them win the physical. By god our boys met fire with fire and in the first 5 minutes it was WPRFC who dominated this pitch and showed our foes we wanted this win more than them. Dan o neil dominated that pitch with his physical presence, taking on anyone and everyone who got in his way, a real 2nd rowers performance.
First blood was coombes and was well deserved, Mike Tutt scoring and big Dan notching the 2 with his mighty boot. The falcons were on fire controlling all aspects of the match and had near on all the ball ,this was theirs for the taking if they kept their heads and carried on the motion. It wasn't long before our flying full back Dessie also secured his name on the score card flying over the try line with terrific pace and secure hands.
Ashford managed a try back but we was on a roll, could this be a fight back? don't think so
Half time and its 12-10. the falcons confidence is brimming , we have had all the ball and we are out gunning them in all positions.
The boys were spinning balls out wide for fun and it was only a matter of time before Dessie powered over the white wash for the falcons third try and his personal 2nd of the mng. what a mothers day present for mum Jane. Again 2 points from Dans boot and you could sense this was our win. The boys unleashed more of the fast paced rugby they had started with and the final nail in the coffin was delivered by our wonder wing Henry Whichello who dazzled the crowd with his wonderful turn of pace, and footwork that would be the envy of most in the fight game and put his name on the scoreboard to seal the victory for the falcons. four tries to two. And the game is ours champagne and medals all round

To the victor the spoils, and the silverware is ours. A very happy mothers day me thinks.
A very well deserved victory to the Falcons, they have come so far this season and they are reaching new highs with their rugby all the time.
A big thank you to all parents that made the journey down to Ashford especially you mums being it was mothering Sunday, I suppose we must dedicate the win to all our Falcon mums that would be the right thing to do. So there you go mums that win is for you. !!!!!
The man of the match award went to the whole team as this has been a team effort with everyone buying into it and doing all they could to help. So I salute you Falcons on your win yesterday and may more awards come your way next season.
See you all at the weekend.
