MATCH REPORT
NOMADS 28-HSBC 23
A long long time ago I can still remember how Rugby used to make me smile
And I knew if I had my chance, I could make those players dance
And maybe they'd be happy for a while. But Sidcup made me shiver, with every try they delivered.
Bad news on the doorstep I couldn't take one more step, I can't remember if I cried
When we read about their dodgy side. Something touched The Nomads deep inside
The day the honour died So Bye, bye Miss American Pie Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry. And them good ole boys were drinking whiskey and rye, Singin' this'll be the day that I die
This'll be the day that I die
Did you write the book of Rugby, and do you have faith in Snapey If the Beer tells you so?
Do you believe in ruck and maul? Can Rugby save your mortal soul? And can you teach me how to get out of this hole? Well, I know that you're stay with him
'Cause I saw you trainin' in the gym You all kicked off your woes And came out fighting for your goals
When Billy Bignell sang for HSBC In a coat he borrowed from James Dean And a voice that came from you and me, Oh and while HSBC was looking down, Billy stole their thorny crown The courtroom was adjourned No verdict was returned. And while Harrison read a book on Marx
The quartet practiced in the park And we scored try’s in the park, The day the Rugby didn’t die.
We were singin' Bye, bye bad rugby vibes,Drove our pack over their pack back, for Tom Walker to score a try, Them Nomad boys were back in the game, And singin' this wont be the day that we die Helter skelter in a summer swelter The HSBC flew off with a fallout shelter
Eight miles high and falling fast It landed foul on the grass
The players tried for a forward pass With the jester on the sidelines in a cast. Now the half-time air was sweet perfume While Jamie Walker played a marching tune We all got up to dance Oh, and he took his chance. 'Cause the players cried to take the field
The HSBC refused to yield, Oh, and there we were all in one place A generation lost in space
With no time left to start again, So come on Ollie be nimble Ollie be quick, Billy B sat on a candlestick
fire is the devil's only friend. Oh and as we watched him on the stage our hands were clenched in fists of rage as Billy sored to save the day and break that Satan's spell
We went down to the sacred bar
Where I'd heard the music years before
But the man there said the music would play And in the clubhouse the Nomads screamed
The backs cried, and the fowars dreamed
But not a word was spoken
The Nomads are back and HSBC were broken

Great Combe spirit shown today by everyone who made the effort to be available, And for the efforts on the pitch. It wasn’t pretty but we got over the line with a WIN. Thanks to one and all who play and support us.
