Kent took on Hertfordshire, Surrey and Devon in this year’s County Championship.

Just losing to a very strong Hertfordshire side 12, 19, beating Surrey in an even closer game 17 18 and finally travelled down to the West Country where they played Devon at Barnstable eventually winning this game 20 28.

There are now 28 counties competing split into three levels as before but now with twelve teams in Tier Two and Three respectively.

Tier One which Kent were promoted to last season will be split North and South with each county playing other sides within their pool. The winner of each Pool, under the standard points system, will contest the final at Twickenham Sunday 28th May. Points gained this season will be carried forward to next season. This season Cornwall had a clean sweep of three bonus point victories, which takes them through to the final against Lancashire. Kent gained ten points, which are taken through to next season giving them a good base to start. Kent has the same opposition next season but with home and away fixtures reversed.

Combe supplied a number of players for the county side including Joe Bonner, Luke Bellinger, Anthony Hitchcock, Charlie Edwards, Alex Campbell and Bradley Bateup.

We must give a special mention to Jo Bonner who now equals Andy Pratt’s record for representing the County on 28 occasions.
